Cocoa Puffe
Sonny (Australia) x Shelley Fabares (Chile)
DOB:  7/14/00
ARI No.:  821850
Color:  Light Brown/black muzzle and ear tips
Type:  Huacaya

Cocoa Puffe is the senior Huacaya dam at Bella Vita.  She has produced multiple show winning crias for us.  Her first, Bella Chocolat (true black) won blue at the 2005 GWAS and AOBA National Conference.  Chocolat's fleece has also won multiple blue ribbons.  The remarkable thing is that Cocoa Puffe was bred to Aspen, a medium fawn Peruvian Oro son with white and fawn in his background.  Cocoa Puffe showed one dark fawn 2 generations back in her pedigree and was the product of medium fawn and white parents.  Cocoa Puffe does have a black muzzle and ear tips, and somewhere in the mix the black genetics rose to the top.

Cocoa Puffe's second cria is BVR Tucker, a medium brown male who has fine, dense fleece which has taken 2nd place at a couple of shows.  He himself took 4th place out of 13 animals at the 2005 GWAS show when he was youngest in his class.  He took second place at the ABR Fall Festival that same year, and his fleece also took second.  His cute face graces the cover the the 2005 Fall issue of Alpacas Magazine.  Because our breeding goals include solid color, we do not use Tucker as a herdsire because of the white in his face and on his legs.  We do use his fleece, however.

Cocoa Puffe's third cria may be her best.  El Corazon` is a medium fawn NWA Ltd. Haldane son who has absolutely breathtaking bright fleece, very soft handle, and beautiful crimp with bundling.  His cria fleece stats are impressive with a micron count of 17.2.  Corazon` was 3rd youngest in his class of 10 males at the 2006 GWAS show, and judge Amanda VandenBosch awared him the 2nd place ribbon.  An impressive feat for his first show.  We are so impressed with Corazon` that we are breeding his half sister, Chocolat, to Haldane.  We would have bred Cocoa Puffe back to him, but her next cria is not due until fall and Haldane is only here in Colorado June-August 2006.  Chocolat was ready for rebreeding after her cria when Haldane arrived in Colorado, so we chose to breed her to Haldane since the cross with her mother was so spectacular. That produced white Angelina, who went on to win a blue ribbon and the Res. Champion fleece at the AFCNA Continental fleece show.  She was then sold to Amanda Pines Alapcas and produced Bianca (white), blue ribbon winnner and CHAMPION WHITE FLEECE at the 2011 ABR Fall Festival.

Cocoa Puffe's 4th cria is Tuscan's Prosecco, a dark fawn herdsire, multiple champion, who is co-owned with Black Forest alpacas and was ready to start breeding in 2011.

Cocoa Puffe's 5th cria is Tuscan's Black Silk, a beautiful true black, full sibling to Prosecco.  She is a ribbon winner, including Res. Champion black fleeces at 2010 ABR Fall Festival Fleece Harvest.

Cocoa Puffe's 6th cria is Tuscan's Perfect Storm, a med. brown male with gray neck and leg fleece.  He is stunning, just like full siblings Black Silk and Prosecco.  He, too, is a ribbon winner, including Res. Champ brown fleeces from 2nd place at 2011 ABR Fall Festival Fleece harvest.

Cocoa Puffe's 7th cria is Tuscan's Cotrina, a medium fawn female.  She has the typical correct conformation that Cocoa Puffe produces, and we are waiting to see how she develops as she was a fall 2011 cria, so kind of early to tell.  Fleece is very bright and crimpy.  Has excellent presence.

Cocoa Puffe is a very attentive mom, has abundant milk, is calm in her demeanor and easy to handle.  Chocolat has exhibited her mother's wonderful maternal instincts and milk production with her first cria in 2006.  All of Cocoa Puffe's crias grow incredible fleece staple lengths with density and excellent coverage.  She is not currently on our sales list.

A note about Cocoa Puffe:  We have kept all direct Cocoa Puffe babies on the ranch in our foundation herd.  We have sold only 1/2 interest in two of her sons.  These 2 half interest sales plus the sale of daughter Chocolat's crias have brought approximately $85,000 to  Bella Vita Ranch, making the purchase of Cocoa Puffe, our first huacaya female, very wise indeed.
Cocoa Puffe's first cria, Bella Chocolat
Cocoa Puffe's 2nd cria, BVR Tucker
Cocoa Puffe's 3rd cria, El Corazon`
4th cria, Chia Pet

Sunset Hill's Zeph's Zsa Zsamora
Peruvian Zephyrus (Royal Fawn) x Caligula's Accoyo Iris
ARI#:  30016143
DOB:  5/8/06
Color:  White

Zsa Zsa is the thoughtful product of Sunset Hill's breeding program. We purchased Zsa Zsa to add new bloodlines to our production female pool.  She brings to our program her beautiful physical phenotype and her  fabulous fleece characteristics of distinct bundlng, incredible brightness, and wonderful handle, truly an elite fleece  that brings a WOW response from anyone who views her parted fleece.  Although she is white, she descends from the Royal Fawn line so has color genes in her pedigree.  When we sheared Zsa Zsa, we found a fawn spot on her neck.  She was purchased specifically for our two young hersdires, the light fawn Tuscan Gold and the medium fawn El Corazon`.

Zsa Zsa has been in the show ring several times bringing home mostly blue ribbons, winning top honors, including Color Champion at MOPACA and Reserve Color Champion at TxOlan.  She moved up into the yearling girls at 2007 AOBA, being one of the youngest in her class, and earned a 5th place ribbon with the judge commenting on her incredible staple length, fine fleece and beautiful elite characteristics.  Zsa Zsa will begin breeding in the fall of 2007.

ARI:  30423831
DOB:  7/18/05

Nicolette comes from a proven winning line at Stachowski Alpacas.  She is a large female with substantial bone, total coverage, a very elegant presence and sweet, quiet disposition.  Her calm disposition has made her a joy to show as you can stand her up like an Arabian horse and she will hold whatever pose you ask of her.  Nicolette was added to our breeding program not only for her wonderful disposition but also for her strength of pedigree, total coverage of her dense, dense fleece with beautiful character of independent bundles and uniform crimp style. She has placed high in her show classes and will begin breeding after the spring 2007 show season to Accoyo Grandmaster, a full Accoyo from the Stachowski Alpacas program, for a 3/4 Accoyo cria.  Grandmaster has retained a low micron count  throughout his life and breeding career.  Although she is white, she is a Royal Fawn granddaughter, so has color genetics in her pedigree.  We plan to explore that color possibility in 2008 and beyond when breeding her to our fawn males, Tuscan Gold and El Corazon`.

2007 Fleece stats:  AFD 21.7, SD 4.5, CV 20.8, %<15 1.7, CV 95.1, staple length 110, micron range only 20.2 to 24.0, curve 37.7 Dg/mm.

Nicolette is in the top 5% of our ranch for producing long staple lengths.  Her 115 mm relaxed staple length stretched to 135 mm wtih 3 crimps/cm and average daily growth of 0.34 mm/day.  Our goals when breeding her to our champion males will be to lower the micron count in her crias while maintaining the excellent fiber growth, bundling and density that Nicolette brings to the table.

DOB:  9/2/203
Color:  Bay Black
Part Peruvian, part Chilean

This Peruvian Oro granddaughter is a gorgeous true black female who is a proven dam and multiple blue ribbon winning female at level V shows (GWAS and AOBA).  She has dense, crimpy, soft, black fleece with great coverage, excellent conformation and bite, and gentle personality.  One of the things that put Chocolat at the top of her class, besides the above-listed fleece characteristics, is the lack of guard hair in her fleece.  She has produced true black crias and possesses the two white markings in her groin that indicate her ability to produce the true blue/black color.  We learned about these two white groin markings from Australian and AOBA certified judge Peter Kennedy.  He and his partner have a herd of about 300 black huacayas in Australia, and they look for these markings when buying black females.  Chocolat's true black cria who sold at the 2007 AOBA auction also had these two white markings.  Chocolat is an easy breeder, has no problems with cria delivery and has plenty of milk to support her growing babies.

A note about Chocolat and her dam, Cocoa Puffe:  We have kept all direct Cocoa Puffe babies on the ranch in our foundation herd.  We have sold only 1/2 interest in two of her sons.  These 2 half interest sales plus the sale of Chocolat's crias have brought approximately $85,000 to  Bella Vita Ranch, making the purchase of Cocoa Puffe and retainment of Chocolat in our herd, very wise decisions.

Another gem from our senior dam Cocoa Puffe, Chia Pet is a beauty!  Her sire is the light fawn multiple blue ribbon male MFI Capricorn, a Quetzal son (Timoteo grandson).  We had her on our sales list but decided to add her to our foundation program when her 2-year-old fiber stats arrived, and year after year, she has maintained fineness of fleece with a spike histogram and maintains a comfort factor of 97.2% at 4 years of age, pregnant and fat with body score of about 9.  Gotta love those alpacas whose fiber isn't affected by the environment.  Chia Pet has passed her beauty on to her daughters, Chiquita (by Aladdin of KPR), Chi Chi (by Tuscan Gold) and Chai Tea (by Tuscan Gold).  See her fiber stats below and you'll appreicate why she is a foundation female for us.  Chia Pet has grace and elegance in her movement and a sweet personality that makes her easy to work with.  She is an easy breeder, has normal pregnancies and unassisted deliveries with plenty of milk to support her crias.  She was not shown much but is a reserve champion fleece winner at the 2007 ABR Fall Festival Fleece Harvest.

CPeruvian Accoyo Express x 6Preuvian Serenety
DOB: 9/27/05
ARI:  30017823
Color:  Medium Fawn
Full Peruvian, half Accoyo

This lovely lady joined our foundation herd in the fall of 2006.  She is the daughter of CPeruvian Accoyo Express, one of the few offspring (only 5 registered in the US) and only male offspring of Accoyo Albus who was exported to England, thus making this a valuable and rare bloodline in the USA.  Grace was chosen for our herd because of her fine, high-frequency, low amplitude, medium fawn fleece and color genetics to compliment our males, Tuscan and Corazon`.  Her sire has produced Color Champion offspring in every color class in both genders.  Grace is tall and pleasing to the eye with a balanced frame, sweet face and gentle personality.  She has placed well in the ribbons at the shows and will go back to Brookhollow Farm and be bred to Invicible in 2007.  Thereafter she will be at Bella Vita producing future champions with Tuscan and Corazon`.

2007 fiber stats (yearling fleece):  19.9 micron, 4.2 SD, 20.9 CV, 5.4 %<15, 97.6 comfort factor,
