Sire:  MFI Brock (Augusto x PRA Belinda, Leon daughter)

Full Peruvian, 3/4 Accoyo
DOB:  8/8/04
Color:  Light Fawn
ARI#1197709

This gorgeous male posseses perfect conformation, strong bone, coverage, beautiful head, extremely bright, elite fleece and low micron count (16.2/cria fleece) .  Add his pedigree to this fabulous phenotype, and he is the total package.  He is an Augusto grandson and Leon great grandson on his sire's side, and his dam is a Starr Khan daughter out of a Hemingway daughter.  With this pedigree, it is no suprise that Tuscan has the looks of an elite herdsire who will make his mark on the North American alpaca industry.  And does he have attitude and presence!  He just knows he is something special.

Tuscan Gold earned 2 COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS in his yearling year, the first at the tender age of 14 months.  His fleece swept the Level III fleece show at the ABR Fall Festival in Castle Rock, CO in 2005 with the following ribbons earned:
Blue Ribbon, light fawn fleeces
Color Champion:  light fleeces
Judges' Choice Huacaya Fleeces
Best Huacaya Brightness

At the 2006 level 4 MOPACA show, Tuscan earned the FIRST PLACE blue ribbon as well as the  COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP in the beige/light fawn males.

Tuscan has added to his show record at the 2006 Level III ABR Fall Festival.  He won DOUBLE COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, winning both in the halter and fleece shows.  His fleece also took the Best Crimp award.

Passing his genetics to his offspring, Tuscan's first try at GET OF SIRE earned the BLUE RIBBON at the 2009 MOPACA show with Toscana, Tuscanator and Luna.

Bred by Sunny Mesa Alpacas, this male comes from a breeding program that is repeated every year because of the excellent alpacas it has produced.  Tuscan's full sister, Tessora, and full brother, Troon, have multiple awards and color championships to their credit.  To read more information on Tuscan's lineage and full siblings,Tessora, Troon and Trista, please see Sunny Mesa's website at www.sunnymesa.com .

FIBER STATS:  Fiber stats are in for 2006 (sheared at 1 year 8 months).  Ian Watt believes that a male's 1 1/2 to 2 1/2-year-old fleece is the most important fleece to obtain statistics from, before the influence of hormones. Tuscan's stats are:
2006 (2-year-old) Micron 17.2, SD 3.7, CV 21.8, %<15  22.2%, comfort factor 100%,
2007 (3-year-old) Micron 18.7, SD 4.2, CV 22.5, %<15 11.8%, comfort factor  98.3%,
2008 (4 years old):  Micron 19.9, SD 4.6, CV 23.1%, comfort factor 95.9%

The fleece has retained its characteristic brightness, bundling, crimp, well-nourished appearance, and soft handle.  It earned a Best Hand award and Color Championship ribbon at GWAS in 2007 (same fleece that won Color Championship and Best Crimp at Fall Fest 2006).

2007 fiber stats at almost 3 years of age (turns 3 in early August, sheared at end of May) -
micron 18.7, SD 4.2, CV 22.5, % less than 15 microns 11.8, CF 98.3%, staple length 90 mm, curve 35.7 Dg/mm.  Impressive for a 3-year-old breeding male.

These fiber stats and Tuscan's show record put him in a small and elite group of males in the country.  We challenge you to find another male who has the same fleece characteristics as Tuscan.  These males are very rare indeed.  Once you see his fleece, you will understand what we are talking about.

Tuscan began his breeding career in August 2006, and his first cria is confirmed and due in July 2007.  Please call to book a breeding as only limited outside breedings will be offered.

Corazon at 2 1/2 years of age

El Corazon` di Bella Vita - 8-time COLOR CHAMPION!

Sire:  NWA Ltd. Haldane (Hemingway son)
Dam:  Cocoa Puffe
DOB:  10/8/05
Color:  Medium fawn
ARI #:  30000491
1/2 Peruvian, 1/2 Chilean, 1/4 Allianza
PROVEN HERDSIRE AS OF 9/07!

His name means literally "the heart of Bella Vita".  Corazon` is a perfect example of our breeding philosophy, and what a gem he is!  Not only is he cute as he can be, he has gorgeous, soft, very bright fleece with excellent crimp and long staple length.  He is out of our senior huacaya dam, Cocoa Puffe (Chilean heritage), who also produced our multiple blue ribbon bay/black female, Chocolat.  Corazon` is the third jewel in Cocoa Puffe's crown, and he is a very promising young male.  His sire is NWA Ltd. Haldane (full Peruvian), a Northwest Alpacas Studmaster male and Hemingway son.

Corazon was shown for the first time at the 2006 GWAS show and was 3rd youngest in his class of 10.  He was awarded the second place ribbon by Amanda VandenBosch, quite a feat for such a competitive class and at such a young age.  Comments were made about his brightness, density, extremely soft handle, beautiful crimp and extensive fiber coverage.

Corazon showed at the 2006 ABR Fall Festival on 10/06 and won DOUBLE COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS in both the halter and fleece shows as a juvenile!  Judge Nard Mullen commented on Corazon's overall excellent conformation and beautiful head but said the clincher was when she put her hands on his fleece.  Bright,  "buttery, buttery soft handle", dense, excellent coverage, great even crimp everywhere - she just went on and on.  Corazon was sheared this summer, so this was his second fleece coming in.  This is just the beginning for this very promising male.  Corazon earned his third COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP at the 2007 MOPACA show in a very competitive class of fawn males.  No matter where Corazon` places in his classes at the shows, the judges always comment on the buttery soft handle of his fleece, usually stating he has the best hand in the class.  Most impressive to us is the staple length he puts out.  In his 2007 fiber stats, his relaxed fiber length was 110 mm and stretched was 131 mm!  His average daily growth is 0.36 mm/day, the best among the huacayas on our ranch.

FIBER STATS:  Corazon's fiber stats are impressive.  He is very similar to Tuscan in his fleece stats.  In 2006 both boys boasted a micron count of 17.2 and SD of 3.7.  Corazon's CV was 21.2 and fibers less than 15 micron were 23%.  Comfort factor was 100%, CRV was 37.9 and staple length 110 mm. This was his cria fleece and was harvested at about 8 months of age for a show fleece in 2006-2007.  This fleece repeated its 2006 Fall Festival Color Chamipionship at GWAS 2007.  It has a very rich, well nourished feel to it and is bright with well-defined crimp.

His 2007 fleece stats (yearling year, ready to breed at 19 months when fleece was harvested)
AFD 18.5, SD 3.7, CV 19.7, %<15 9.7, comfort factor 99.3%, staple length 105, CRV 38.0 Dg/mm.  These stats and his show record put him in an elite group of male alpacas that one doesn't run across very often.

2008 (3 year old breeding male) - AFD 22.6, SD 4.6, CV 20.2, CV 94.2% staple length 115 mm

Color:  Dark  fawn with black pints
Heritage:  1/2 Peruvian, 1/2 Chilean

This is one gorgeous boy!  He has great coverage, including fabulous face coverage, the cutest face with short nose and large eyes. and nice, correct conformation with a good bite.  His dark fawn fleece is absolutely uniform, comments he gets from all judges, with a very bright character, trademark from his sire, fine, crimpy and with a well-nourished, incredible handle.  Fiber stats for 2009 are pending.  He is a maternal half brother to our stellar herdsire, El Corazon`.  In fact, the genetic cross of Cocoa Puffe genetics with Tuscan Gold genetics are producing some fabulous crias for Bella Vita.  Prosecco's full sister from the 2009 cria crop looks like a twin to her brother, Prosecco, except in a true black fleece. Prosecco has placed in the ribbons at every show he has been in, mostly in first place, and earned his first (but probably not his last) championship at the ABR Fall Festival.  He has won multiple blue ribbons in bred and owned male, regular halter classes and fleece classes.  His quiet personality is inherited from his dam, but don't let that cute face and quiet personality fool you.  He will be an early breeder as we had to separate him from his female juvenile pen mates at 10 months of age because he already had all the breeding characteristics down pat, including orgling!  Brother Corazon was breeding and proven by age 20 months.  So, we anticipate Prosecco starting his breeding career in the fall of 2010.  Call either Bella Vita Ranch or Black Forest Alpacas to schedule your females to this fabulous male!

If you are looking for a herdsire with power-packed genetics to add density, brightness, character and a perfectly balanced solid frame to your breeding program, this is your guy.

Alpine King's grandsire on his dam's side is the lauded Snowmass Perfection, the namesake for the Perfection line at Snowmass Alpacas. Not only did Perfection start with fine and dense fiber, but he also sustained it, turning in an impressive 19.7 micron count at six years of age! Perfection did not keep these traits to himself, but passed them along to his offspring. The AVERAGE fiber diameter for 12 of Perfection's offspring was 16.34 microns!

Alpine King's granddam on his dam's side is Snowmass Wedding Pacabells, a Don Julio daughter and Futurity Champion who sold for $72,000 in '07. Alpine King's sire is a champion out of champion herdsire Snowmass Snow King. These winning genetics combined with the dam's champion producing lineage make Alpine King an explosive combination of award winning genetics, rich throughout his pedigree.

The family tree also includes the venerable Augusto, Hemingway, 4P Isabella and Legacy. Although the Accoyo, Allianza, Sollocota, and Cconchatanca bloodlines can be found in other animals, rarely do they all come together in a single alpaca as they do in Alpine King.

Our design for Alpine King at Bella Vita is to be the foundation herdsire for our white line as he is 5 generations deep in white genetics. We are especially enamored with Alpine King’s Hemingway/Augusto genetics as these are the same genetics in our Sunny Mesa's Tuscan Gold, premier herdsire at Bella Vita. Hemingway and Augusto are doubled up in Alpine King, found in both the sire and dam’s lineage. This was a motivating factor for our purchase of Alpine King to extend the excellence of the Hemingway/Augusto lines, matching them with Tuscan light colored/white female offspring. Can you imagine what might be?

Snowmass Alpacas did not show this male. However, he was an A+ rated male at Snowmass Alpacas and was at the top of their list as an elite white fleece genetic line production stud, slated to cover much of their 2010 herd. When their 2010 last auction lot was injured before leaving for the auction, also another Perfection line male, Alpine King was selected to replace him to provide the Perfection genetics that Snowmass Alpacas takes great pride in, and for good reason!

The following is Snowmass Alpacas write-up for Snowmass Satin King, AK's sire:
"Snowmass Satin King is the picture perfect stud male alpaca. He is the complete package of perfection in our eyes. Compact incredibly well balanced in his frame with a strong dense bone broad stance and perfect true to type alpaca stud head NOW add the perfect fleece over the entire body which does not vary much from head to toe... well there you have it. He is the SATIN KING.

On the dam's side, grandsire Snowmass Perfection was purchased by Pucara Internaional for $155,000 at auction in 2006.  The following is their write-up on this impact male:
"Perfection is here! We are so happy to put a male of this calibre into our breeding program. He is a show winner at the National level. He is producing show winners. His progeny swept the juvenile white and beige female classes at AWE 2004...first, second and third! He has won Get of Sire. He won Breeders best Three! and also Bred and Owned for Snowmass Alpacas! His mother Snowmass Wedding Pacabells is a Futurity champion. His father is Accoyo Legacy who is now the $1.5 million male!

Legacy has champions into the show ring all over the country. His son, Legacy Gold is one such alpaca. He sold at auction for $500,000 in 2006.

This is significant to us because Al chose Legacy in Peru in 1996 for the partnership with Snowmass Alpacas at that time. Al also brokered the deal to get Peruvian Don Julio, Perfection's grandfather, back to Australia in 1997. At that time Jodie Sleeper the US alpaca judge called Peruvian Don Julio " the perfect alpaca". Genetics don't lie! That makes Perfection an Allianza/Accoyo mix..the best of the best. Jude also chose Perfection's dam's mother in Peru in 1995, again for Snowmass Alpacas. So it ends up that Jude and Al choose all the lineage in Perfection's background. It is with great pride that the boy is now standing in our paddocks.

For us Snowmass Perfection represents everything we like in a huacaya. Jude judges thousands of alpaca all over the US and often overseas every year. She thinks Perfection is the finest and most dense six year old huacaya male she has seen. He was born July 2000 but still is only 19.7 micron. It is just so hard to find a herdsire that holds a fine micron diameter at age and also shows exceptional density. Perfection does both.

His skin biopsy report definitively proves this. Snowmass Alpacas tested twelve of his progeny and they averaged 16.34 micron!! Another thing we love about this boy apart from the vitality and sheen of his fleece is his build. He's built like a linebacker. A light heavyweight with width of chest, spring of rib, lovely stretch and solid strongly built frame that moves in a graceful gait. As any herdsire should he diplays oodles of constitutional vigor. He's ready to go any time he's called. But he's also easy to handle. There is nothing weak in this boy's background. Perhaps indeed Perfection has arrived!

Pattern Huacaya Herdsire, medium fawn/light brown

Well, isn't he just the cutest thing?  This very attractive male has more going for him than his spots!  He is 3/4 Peruvian, 3/4 Accoyo, his sire a son of PCA Accoyo El Nino, famed son of PPeruvian Caligula.  His dam is a light fawn out of a true black female bred to a full Accoyo male.  Color and major Accoyo genetics make this a special package.  Meka Boy has definite spots of light brown pattern sharply defined in his medium fawn fleece.  And the fleece!  It is WOW stuff.  Beautiful uniform crimp with no distinction between the 2 colors.  He is covered from head to foot in fleece that is buttery soft to the hand.  Look at his fiber stats to see why.  If you like color and pattern, imagine the possibilities with this male!  It is with some reservation that we and our partners offer this male for sale.  He could be a lot of fun on any ranch that likes color and elite fleece combined!

This is quite possibly the best alpaca we have ever bred. Stunning male with equally stunning fleece. Born on shearing day 2010, he was a beautiful peach/beige color that has gone white as a yearling.  His fleece characteristics show very good uniformity of micron and style throughout the fleece which is organized and exhibiting microbundling throughout.  This has been noticed by the judges which propelled Primo to the top of his classes right off the bat, evidenced by his 1st place with Res. Color Champ win at his first show, the 2011 A-OK Blastoff.  His fleece is very fine at 16.2 micron, bright and with low CV/SD, evidence by is narrow spike histogram graph.  Primo has perfect conformation, level topline and gorgeous head.  His testicular development has also been impressive.  He has HERDSIRE stamped all over him, including his attitude and presence.  He is his sire all over again in white.  We have had quite a lot of interest in Primo with inquires on his sales price, but at this point we are happy to keep him in our herd, so if he were to sell, it would not be for a bargain price.  This is the kind of male who will be a leader in the industry and can take a farm from Good to Great, as his sire did for us.  We have surmised on a couple of males before being Tuscan's replacement, but I can say with confidence at this point that Primo has everything we would want in a son to take over for his dad in the future.

6th place (out of 14 or 15) - 2011 AOBA - After placing 5, the judge had him confused with another male with a bite issue. Came back, apologized to Chuck about mix up and told him to take the 6th place. Judge then raved about all 6 males in oral reasons, saying any one of the top 6 were what breeders should strive for. The fineness, uniformity and conformation were good in all 6 placements. Wonder if Primo would have placed higher had the bite confusion not been in play? Will never know but were happy to place in this stiff field of competition. At this show Primo color checked white, so his first show against white males. Had been beige at previous shows.

This stunning male is the result of a 5x champion female bred to 5x champion Tuscan Gold.  He is the full brother to AROSA Dazzlyn who sold sight unseen and not yet weaned to the award winning program at Irish Meadows Alpacas in Iowa.  Dazzlyn went on to win 7 championships or Irish Meadows.  Tuscan Black has full coverage of fine, very bright, uniform and crimpy high frequency  fleece.  His medium brown dam is out of the Victor line combined with a high percentage of the successful Jolimont genetics out of Canada.  Jim Stark of Alpacas of the Arc proclaimed she was the best brown female alpaca he had ever seen.  Tuscan black had a short but respectable show career.  He was not shown in his yearling year due to an injury, but we all believe he would have matched, and quite possibly have surpassed, his sister's show record.  He is now breeding as of 2011 in Ohio and we anticipate him in Colorado for 2012 season.  We will be splitting him between the 2 farms on a 9-month to 1-year rotation.  Call now to book your breeding to this fabulous son of Tuscan Gold.  Predictable genetics by design.
